I'm pretty sure that's exactly what they are doing for some, but not all, GSC functions. Only it's not just the letter of the law, but the spirit as well. It appears they're avoiding employing anyone late Saturday or early Sunday as that would impact Sabbath day activities.

GSC closes 6PM Saturday MT and doesn't re-open until Noon Sunday MT when it's something like 5 or 6AM Monday in Canberra. To get it any sooner means that someone is likely to have to forgo a fireside or Sunday evening with the family.

I didn't realize GSC had operations out of the USA. I'm glad they're taking advantage of the time difference. I've certainly done that with employees in other countries. It's great to wake up on a Saturday morning and see that maintenance activities we started on Friday night were successfully completed while I was asleep :)

I would assume that the Church IT organization, like many other IT organizations, has people on call who can come in on a Saturday or Sunday to fix problems if someone deems it necessary. The person who "deems it necessary" probably has a more sensitivity to Sabbath issues than typical IT organizations and probably seeks heavenly guidance before mobilizing staff.

I remember one discussion thread, probably a year ago, that sure sounded like there were people there on Sunday trying to fix some problems when systems were going down on Sundays due to the load.

I have not been able to get on the LDS.ORG website. Last 3 days at home. (Nov. 2,3, & 4 2013) I did yesterday at the Stake building. But I could not at home. I could get on most of the web that did not require a log in, but not able to do any sign in parts of the web. (calendar, directory, Lesson Schedules etc.) I would get from Chrome "Webpage not available". I would get from firefox "Unable to connect" I am surprised that no activity on the forum is occurring. Is this problem something to do with me and my situation? Does it have anything to do with me getting a message Saturday to participate in the beta for Clerk resources? Any help you can give would be appreciated. :)

Given the lack of complaints, I suspect it's a security setting in your browser that's blocking you. Perhaps something to do with cookies?

I'm not so concerned about clearing cookies as making sure they are not blocked for lds.org. Some iPad 3 users found the default security settings TOO secure.

There is no support in Australia as part of the GSC, it is US people in the US only. Our local office doesn't do much now days, used to be much more involved until the Area Office moved to New Zealand. Thank you to those that do work on Saturday and come back in Sunday noon :-)

As is often the case, leader.lds.org is down Sunday morning (7:30am eastern time). It comes up but all reports, organizations, and pretty much everything off the menu just sits there and spins. Makes bishopric/pec/ward council meetings this morning very difficult.

Looks like it was only down for 45 min or so. I can get to reports again. Still inconvenient at the time.
