Request to change personal information
Alfredwilliam, I undid your recent edit. It appears you were using this wiki page, which is general documentation for the Directory application on lds.org, to make a specific request for a change in your membership information. No one here can help you with that; you need to discuss it with your ward clerk. I'm sure he'd be happy to help you. -- Aebrown 05:36, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Change perspective of article instructions
The title of the article indicates the article is directed at an individual editing only their personal directory profile. The information that can actually be edited extends to include the household profile as well as other household member's profile information. The article also does not address rights to edit profiles based on household status. As I understand it, minors, those under 18, cannot edit the household profile or even their personal profile.

The title as well as the article "speaking to" any individual should be changed to reflect those who can actually edit the household as well as individual directory profiles. How about "Editing directory profiles" for the title?

Without knowledge of the actual behaviors for individuals with different rights I do not want to attempt to edit this article. I only see what I have as an administrator and what my wife can see as an adult member. We have no adult or minor children in our household to test various rights.--Jdlessley 20:16, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

The change is to line 25 where a comment is added about having two stake technology specialists. This change was also entered as a minor change. By LDSTech wiki guidelines this is not a minor change and the change should have been noted in this discussion area before making the controversial change.
: I agree, and so I have undone that recent change. Handbook 1, section 13.3.3, only uses the singular in referring to the stake technology specialist. I'd be happy to restore the change if supporting documentation can show that this is an approved option, but I don't think such documentation exists. A stake technology specialist is welcome to obtain help from others skilled in particular technologies, but the responsibility is still his. -- Aebrown 22:23, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

: A change was recently made to MLS to support multiple STS's in a single stake, and a worldwide survey of stake leadership indicated that a large percentage of stakes now have multiple STS's. There is some informal documentation stating what Retiredtech said, but I don't know if there have been any public statements to this effect yet. While there is nothing technically wrong with the suggestion to have multiple STS's in a stake, I suppose it is your right to remove the suggestion. But, it is a good suggestion that many stakes are already following.- Ken 06:27, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

: To place the statement as worded by contributor Retiretech in the wiki without an official statement or document is a bit presumptive or at least preemptive and it adds confusion. I would be more soft in the wording until there is something official. In fact, Ken's first sentence would be more appropriate. In other words there could be a statement that indicates a change trend. As I read Retiredtech's statement it looked like direction from CHQ. The statement creates more confusion with regard to what part of the the responsibilities of an STS are then handled by each STS. At first it looks clear. But when the Handbook and other documents are considered in relation to Retiredtech's statement I was wondering who really has the responsibilities of the STS. While a stake president can have two or more STSs to handle the growing work load, is it not up to him who handles what work? Would there be an STS and assistant STSs? It is not clear.Jdlessley 03:51, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

LDS Account is a single user name and password for any person who interacts with online LDS Church resources. LDS Account will become the primary account authentication credentials for most Church sites and applications. This will reduce development costs that would be incurred as the user interfaces change, or as upgrades to security and the registration process are required. Unlike today’s authentication, which requires our customers to memorize many user names and passwords, the goal of LDS Account is to become a branded single sign-on solution that is centrally managed.

Overview
When registering for an LDS Account, members of the LDS Church are asked to provide their MRN (membership record number) and their confirmation date. Members can obtain this information by asking their ward clerk for their Individual Ordinance Summary. A member’s MRN can also be found on the back of the temple recommend.

Account recovery (such as forgotten user names and passwords) is handled through the e-mail address that the customer used to register. Although there is not currently a phone number or global support desk available to non-employees, scalable support models for customers who need assistance beyond self-service capabilities are being investigated.

While anyone can register for an LDS Account, when a member registers using their MRN and confirmation date, Church applications like lds.org will be able to take advantage of LDS Account credentials to determine and grant appropriate access based on their current role (e.g. bishop, stake president, etc.). As a member’s role changes, so can the access level of their LDS Account.

Over forty Web sites and applications use LDS Account credentials for authentication. While most of these Web sites are internal, there are a few publicly available sites that use LDS Account, such as the stake and ward Web sites, LDS Art Competition, and a religious class registration site for Logan, Utah institute students.
