How do I delete old messages in the circles app?

I don't think the general membership can do that.
But I think the leaders can. Some do it inadvertently thinking they're just cleaning their view.

Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

The person who posted the message can also delete it, last I tried to do so.

I'm not sure of the procedure, since I don't have the rights to, but I'd start with a long press on the message in question. It will bring up a small menu.
