Lost Annotations

Post by stevechild »

I'm wondering if anybody has an answer for this problem. Over the years there has been several times the Windows version GL app has randomly dumped thousands of my annotations. One time I had more than 10,000 annotations dumped. It's been a couple of years since the last time it happened. I noticed today that I have lost annotations for entire general conference talks from the 1980s. I have been stuck at just under 55,000 annotations for a while now, and that's what got me thinking something's not right. This is beyond frustrating and I cannot figure out why this keeps happening. I've gone online and verified the annotations have been lost. It seems like this happens whenever a new version is about to be unveiled. I've used the beta version and I'm not impressed because of the excessive steps that are not needed in the creation of annotations. I get this is the direction Windows is going, but I wish the Church would create its own operating system. If nobody has an answer for me, I'm done using the app. Thanks, for any help you guys can give me.

Wow. Just under 55,000 Annotations. That is amazing. I have not even made 1,000 Annotations yet.

From my perspective, you are a power user of the Annotation feature in the Windows version of the Gospel Library app.

Here is what i would recommend, doing next.

From within the current version of the Beta version of the Windows Gospel Libary App.on the bottom left is the icon for the feedback area.

On my Windows device today that is showing version number 7.0.12.0 That number may change often as new fixes and features are added.

First, check the "Known Issues" to see if it has already been reported to the volunteer team and will be reviewed.

If the specific issue has not been reported yet, choose the "Report A Bug" option just above Known issues and provide steps on how to replicate the issue and/or as much details at to what is happening.

Note: the other details in that "report a bug" help the team know a little about the setup you have that might help troubleshoot the issue you are experiencing including the version of the Gospel Library app you are seeing the issue and What update of Windows you are currently running.

They may also request a copy of the latest log file found in the Feedback section to help troublshoot this issue further to get a better idea of what might be causing the issue you are experiencing related to Annotations.

Perhaps with this information that you can provide the volunteer team from within the beta version of the app, they may be able to help you and other power users of the Annotation feature going forward and help improve the Gospel Library app for Windows.

In the beta version of the application in the feedback section are other useful areas including "Suggest a Feature" or Planned Features" and even "Volunteer"

Hope this helps.
