Unit History - Send Invite (to create a story) - Add Recipient - All Options say NOT ASSIGNED
I am the Ward Clerk and working with the History Specialist in our Ward. We now have access to this feature, however, when she goes to send an invite to someone to create a story under Add Recipient, they all say Not Assigned. i.e. Bishop - not assigned, First Counselor - Not assigned. This continues throughout every organization and presidency - all not assigned. We do see our Unit Name and Unit number in the top right hand side of the screen showing we are logged in and assigned to the proper unit.

I do see some recipients like what you see, but others are correctly filled in. For example, our RS & EQ have a full presidency including secretary, and they're all available. And the Primary doesn't have a secretary, and that is listed as Not Assigned.
However, our Bishopric is all Not Assigned, as well as Ward Mission Leader. We're in a branch, so we don't have a bishopric, and we have a branch mission leader instead of ward mission leader. So from this perspective, I can at least make a correlation between those that show up as Not Assigned, and suggest that perhaps the system not accounting for our branch-specific callings. That said, you state you're in a ward, so obviously that logic doesn't apply to you, and my line of thought immediately breaks down.
I'm a bit hesitant to try the new tool if it's still buggy, nobody wants to spend time trying to make it work if there's limitations (known or as-yet-unknown). Perhaps somebody on the Forum is successfully using the tool, and can give us some positive vibes

Checking again I still see the same thing mentioned before, but perhaps it will trickle down to our unit history settings too. Thanks for providing your update.

All positions in my ward say not assigned. How do I get this fixed? I’m the ward history specialist.

Please see this Forum thread, it seems like it's a widespread issue. Reporting it via the Feedback tool (on the webpage or inside any of the Church apps), will get this into the Church's tracking system.

I'm wonder how we can add non leaders. Say, if i have a youth who helped spearhead an event? I'd like to have them listed as an invitee but right now its just adult leadership. Any way I can do that?

Adding unit history app authors is not possible. Only Adult organization leaders are authors in the system and only they can be invited through the Unit History app to submit stories within the app. You can invite someone to submit a story outside the app to the adult leaders of the appropriate organization who then can enter/submit the story for them into the system. The adult leaders review/edit the story in accordance with the standards and instructions provided in the Unit History quick start guide and FAQ found in the tool help menu. There are two options to submit these stories submitted outside the system. A unit history system author can either type in the story or paste the contents of an electronic version into the text box. Or the story can be attached as a PDF file to a introductory story written by a unit history author.
