Bishopric Personal Temple Recommend Renewal
This question came up during Bishopric meeting with our relatively new Bishopric coming up on their renewal dates. We are struggling to find any clear guidance in the General Handbook about who renews the Bishop's personal temple recommend? Does one of his counselors? Does he go through 1 or 2 stake interviews? Do the Bishopric counselors get interviewed by the Bishop or each other?

The Bishop is interviewed by himself and the Stake President. He is not interviewed by his counselors.greenwoodkl wrote: Wed May 21, 2025 10:54 pm This question came up during Bishopric meeting with our relatively new Bishopric coming up on their renewal dates. Normally the Bishopric counselors would be interviewed by the Bishop prior to the Stake interview.

In a ward, the bishop or an assigned counselor conducts temple recommend interviews and issues recommends to those who are worthy.
In a ward, the bishop personally interviews members who:
- Are receiving their own endowment (see 27.1 and 27.2).
- Are being sealed to a spouse (see 27.3).
After the interview by a member of the bishopric or the branch president, a member of the stake presidency interviews members who live in a stake.
To me is sounds like the bishopric isn't treated any different than others in the ward (other than they could sign their own recommends at the ward level). As usual if there are any questions the bishop or stake president are the the right choice to make a decision. The stake or mission president personally interviews members who:
- Are receiving their own endowment.
- Are being sealed to a spouse.
