Deep links into General Handbook

Post by dansmith »

I'd like to use a URL that points to the "Tithing Declaration" section of General Handbook, 34.3.1.2.

What I've got right now is:

https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/general-handbook/34-finances-and-audits#sec11

This works when I open it in a browser, but when it goes to the Gospel Library app (e.g., clicking the link on an iPhone), it just goes to the top of Chapter 34.

I tried this one too, which adds a highlight bar to the section in a browser, but just goes to Chapter 34 in the app.

https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/general-handbook/34-finances-and-audits?lang=eng&id=sec11#sec11

Is there a reliable & portable way to link to specific sections of the General Handbook?

Yes, you need to specify the range of paragraphs. For this section, the link would be:
https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/general-handbook/34-finances-and-audits?lang=eng&id=title_number69-p263#title_number69

The easiest way to get this URL is to select the text, then tap Share. In Gospel Library for iOS, there's a "Copy Link" option in the share menu. In Gospel Library Online, there's a link icon after you tap Share, that copies the URL to your clipboard. In Gospel Library for Android, you can share to somewhere like text or email, and at the bottom of the shared text is the URL.

That one works, thanks!

Looks like I need to use IDs that belong to 'p' tags, not 'section' tags.
