Will the church create it's own social media?
I was wondering if the church has thought of creating it's own social media linking members via their membership number? It's just a thought to have members connect that have a hard time connecting to friends or family that aren't on public social media that might be in other stakes or have moved across the country or around the world.

Family Search has a Chat option that allows people to collaborate, would this work?

Re: Will the church create it's own social media?
The topic title here made me think it was a question of whether the church would host it's own social media server for official church accounts and accounts for church wide leaders (those that are currently listed on their Official Social Media Accounts page) which is possible for decentralized platforms like Mastodon and BlueSky.
Frankly, I think that is something they should do (and I wish I knew who to talk to about doing that) but the technical resources to build and maintain a social network that could be used by the general membership of the church would be enormous. As much as I might enjoy having that I doubt that they would put the resources to it or that it would really take off if they did. (Circles was probably as close as they will ever come.)

I doubt if the church would do that. From what I've seen, they only tackle things that only they are in the position to do. There's plenty of social media out there, and they want us to be in the community and not just in our isolated enclave.
