Adding photos to new Ward Web Site
The church has now rolled out ward websites, with the content automatically added from the calendar. It appears that the ward may be able to add photos, but after reading through several articles about the new sites, I can't find any instructions on how to do this. Are there posted instructions elsewhere on how to do this?

Re: Adding photos to new Ward Web Site
As often happens when I ask a question, I find an answer myself…. In this case I found a series of instructional videos on using the new ward web page, but some instructions still don’t work. For example in a video on finding the ward webpage, you login on the main church website, and when you do, the link, View Ward Webpage will appear next to your photo. This does not happen in my case. I am trying to introduce this to the ward, but without a reliable way to find it, it will be difficult. There are also other instructions in the videos that do not work.

You need to login and go to "My Home". Even then, I usually see a "Sign in to access personalized content and tools on this page" despite the fact that the top of the page shows me logged in. I have to click on the "Sign in" button that's on the mid page. Then I can see that link. However, that only get you to a point where you can view that page.zaneclark wrote: Thu Jul 30, 2026 10:22 am you login on the main church website, and when you do, the link, View Ward Webpage will appear next to your photo.
Activities can be pushed from the calendar by any calendar editor by clicking the "This is a Public Event" check box when adding or editing an event on any non-private calendar.
Some page editing can be done by individuals with the right calling that already has access to LCR, but I haven't seen any details on the process or know how much customization is possible. Possible editors are a ward council member, ward mission leader, ward missionary, counselor or secretary in one of the ward organizations, ward executive secretary, ward clerk, or assistant ward clerk. There is no calling specific to the web page.
Note that the page is not intended for communication with members, but to make the church assessable to non-members. The page is completely public so that events will show up when someone in the area does a web search.

Thank you Russell, that worked, although a little cumbersome. I have a question, which may be answered in the instruction videos, but how are "friends, family and neighbors" supposed to find site?

Between members using the "share" option on the web page, and from search engines like Google.zaneclark wrote: Thu Jul 30, 2026 6:25 pm but how are "friends, family and neighbors" supposed to find site?
For example, if someone types in "Labor day activities near me", perhaps your ward's page will show up because you have something that's been made public.
Activity Sharing Resources for Leaders seems to be a good place to start.

Re: Adding photos to new Ward Web Site
I am a clerk, with full access to LCR and a calendar administrator, I cannot make even very simple changes to the web page in the Unit Page Management link. None of my changes show in webpage. This is probably going to be a good site, but right now it seems to still be a work in progress.

Re: Adding photos to new Ward Web Site
I've not seen the controls available in Unit Page Management. I'd imagine it's pretty locked down for simplicity. Still, I'd think you'd have some choice in pictures and maybe even upload your own custom photos.
I know we've been encouraged to add photos of meetinghouses in the tool for managing Google listing for the church.
Just note that once you've made the change, you may need to do a Ctrl-F5 in the browser to perform a hard refresh. Otherwise, your browser may be pulling from the cache.
