Church Firewalls Block RMTP connections to YouTube
Today I noticed that at least 2 units in our stake reported an inability of the connection to stream using RTMP to YouTube. Since this has affected two units (maybe more) is there a way to ensure that the firewall allows this protocol?

We're hitting the same thing at our stake center. We use YouTube for streaming (much better for our members than Zoom) which means some of wards won't be able to to broadcast today.

This morning my RTMP feed to YouTube is fine and functional. BUT, my HTTPS connection is blocked. I can’t browse to YouTube or YouTube studio on the church network.

A work around to bypass the church DNS was suggested over here.

Just in case this helps anyone this morning wondering why their broadcasts won't work.

It's DNS. The church's DNS isn't resolving. Updating a devices DNS to use 8.8.8.8 fixes it and YouTube.com resolves again.

Wish we could change DNS assignment via DHCP at the router/firewall but doesn't look like it's allowed. We changed DNS settings manually on our Teradek but the Mevo cams disallow manual DNS entries.

We have issues with laptops only, mobile devices can still run youtube/ youtube studio. Is anyone else experiencing the same?

Has anyone called Church HQ Support to ask why they are blocking YouTube suddenly?

Wonderful... we were hitting this issue with all the wards who had met already in our stake, but we're unable to update DNS as the firewall in our buildings appears to be blocking outbound DNS as well... (I'm sure to force you to use the church provided DNS and the filtering that comes along with it)

Re: Church Firewalls Block RMTP connections to YouTube
Reporting from Nevada: the recent YouTube DNS block disabled all of our televisions (wireless, Liahona with NoSplash policy) and disrupted several Sunday School classes that relied on the Church’s YouTube website using personal tablets and laptops. It also interfered with a missionary report broadcast; although the ward successfully tested the system on Friday, the new YouTube block prevented the camera feed from being ingested. We eventually identified DNS resolution as the issue, but not in time to save the broadcast.
Not a very fun day for Stake Tech Spcs.
